Fracture in silence,
exclusion,
the everlasting echoes of a careless word.
Widen and split in the dark,
that void of waiting,
of wanting,
an empty world of forsaken.

A cry unheard, from no throat issued.
Repair repudiated in disdain,
for unveiled threat,
excised topics.
Brittle edges no longer fit
and will not heal,
bleeding out,
drop by drop,
to a tuneless melody.
Façade crumbles to ash,
the currency of emotion,
devalued to the dust on the floor.

The signposts were there,
every street,
even rivers,
ran in a single direction,
always away.
Doubt’s unwinding path
leads to distrust and on to despair,
warmth vanishing with respect,
a gaggle of geese on a southern wing.

Fallen, on knees torn. Don’t cry, don’t move, don’t look.

You cared no longer.
