How did you come to that conclusion? I mean, that’s quite a detailed idea of payment, and nothing I’ve seen suggests anything like that?

Looking over the stats of the longer fiction pieces, the “average” reading on every story is 2–2.5 minutes. The returns on those stories (those that were read in the last day) are not in line with a single reader devoting a full read, more like a skim through.

Not arguing though. Medium hasn’t given exact formulas, and I’m extrapolating from watching the payments rise and fall on differing lengths and as algorithms have been broken and changed, database tables copied and pasted and other non-natural disasters over the last 2 years.
