It’s a fascinating period, pretty much everything was up for grabs. Have you read Tom Wolfe’s The Right Stuff and The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test? If you haven’t, you might find them worth the time. Ann Rule’s The Stranger Beside Me is also interesting — not to mention the question of whether the US seemed to spawn more serial killers from 1960 to 1990 because of the social upheavals or if they just became more visible? Very fertile ground for the flip side.
